definitely. Just make sure you and the taxi driver talk about the price first. Ask about how much it will cost, have them WRITE IT DOWN, that way, he can’t take ‘detours’ and charge you extra or suddenly smack the meter and charge you an extra $20

Yes, they will only charge you 70 baht per km which is not bad considering the high cost of living in Thailand.

I don´t think so. Because you need 2 taxis. When you come out of the airport (or even before) lots of taxi drivers or companies come to you to bring you to Patong beach. Don´t say yes the first few times and look around to know what you have to pay. Than of course try to bargain. A van for 7 people would be a problem.

Good luck and enjoy your stay in Phuket.

its not just the passengers you have a lot of luggage to.
you should be able to get a taxi for between 700 – 800 baht but you will end up getting 3 taxi’s bcause of luggage.
try this site http://www.busphuket.com – buses run from Airport 06.30 until 20.41 and return from Patong from 05.30 until 18.30.
Taxi will take about 40 mins bus 45 -60 mins.
