    Better to not frost them actually.
    Pack them dry, in muffin tins if possible, and put your frosting of choice in a zip top bag. When you arrive clip the corner and use the zip top bag the pipe the frosting to the cupcakes. Much less aggravation that way.

    Just hold them in your hands during the ride. I had a similar situation this morning; my mom wanted me to drop off a pound cake for a teachers’ breakfast at my high school’s cafeteria, and of course I had to take it on the bus, so I just held the cake when i was waiting for the bus and then on my way to school.
