San Francisco is still a popular tourist destination but it is an expensive city to live in and the taxi drivers don’t have it easy (lots of competition from public transit which is considered good and used by middle class ppl, not just the poor). Driving a taxi is also considered a very dangerous job bc of robbery. NYC is also a popular tourist destination, but again, expensive (and the drivers are awful– when my Grandpa moved there, he stopped driving).

I would say New York would be your best bet. Living conditions are expensive, but lots of people don’t own cars, and rely on taxis and other methods of transportation to get around. There are also some cheaper suburbs of New York, like Queens, which are more affordable.
Especially with the high amount of tourists, some of which wouldn’t be bothered to use public transportation, you could make a better living.

I’d say NYC, if nothing else the streets in Manhattan are really easy to learn. And there’s always need for taxis there.
